This album makes me want to make music, even if I doubt I could ever come close to it

The Lonesome Crowded West to me is about being stuck in a place you dislike, one that constantly seems to be changing for the worse. That feeling of being trapped in part by your own familiarity, and the feeling of being surrounded by so many people, yet still somehow being alone runs through the album's core. Here’s the biggie. I put off listening to this album for a long time just because of it’s length. I don’t even know why that was a problem to me but at least I am here now. Edit: I’ve been sitting here for like 20 minutes trying to come up with something more profound to say about one of my favorite albums. But I got nothing. TLCW is all vibes for me. All feeling. I wouldn’t even know how to speak on it critically without taking away what makes it so cool. So perfect will have to do


This album really is something else for me. This is how I found Modest Mouse, only having heard Float On before. Hell, this album is the reason I started getting really into listening to music. This is currently my favorite album ever, closely followed by In Rainbows by Radiohead. It makes you feel exactly how you're supposed to, like you're shrinking in an ever-expanding world, with amazing songwriting and sound from beginning to end.
