This album makes me want to make music, even if I doubt I could ever come close to it

The Lonesome Crowded West to me is about being stuck in a place you dislike, one that constantly seems to be changing for the worse. That feeling of being trapped in part by your own familiarity, and the feeling of being surrounded by so many people, yet still somehow being alone runs through the album's core. I literally have no idea why I love this so much. I listened through this three times, trying to understand why I was enjoying this so much and I haven't been able to pinpoint an exact reason.

I think the lyrics are amazing and perfectly convey this feeling of losing the small but beautiful things in life to constantly growing urban development.

Besides that, some songs simply detail events in the band's life while on the road and even these songs are just so goddamn good.

This album is such a beautiful experience through and through, Isaac Brock's emotion charged shout voice over the borderline midwest emo indie rock instrumentals that make everything feel so greyish blueish it's such an immaculate aura that only Modest Mouse can capture.
