The work of a man who, having assimilated an army of influences - Captain Beefheart and Sly Stone for sure, but everyone from Elvis to Zappa to Red Crayola are all lost in here somewhere - has managed to create an entirely new noise out of the wreckage. And wreckage is what this album is all about.
Entertainment Weekly

The title says it all. From the otherworldly opener ”Can’t Help Falling in Love,” to the narcotized 16-minute closing track, ”Cop Shoot Cop,” Ladies and Gentlemen, We’re Floating in Space is beautifully weightless and way out.

Floating In Space requires a touch of patience and a desire to probe its depths, but the reward is well worth the investment.

Rolling Stone

Hardly the stuff of halcyon trances. Both ethereal and earthy, Ladies and Gentleman We Are Floating in Space doesn't try to hide its uglier aspects – which, in the end, is what makes it so damn gorgeous.

i just listened to this whilst literally floating in space (and by that i mean on an aeroplane) and I doubt anything will ever touch that.
Honestly, this wasn't all too special to me. I guess the instrumentation was spacey and cool but it didn't strike me as super impressive. The singing was also very average, especially the singer's tone of voice, which began to get on my nerves.

a real enigma. all respect for the effort and dedication to the vision. the production process alone was seemingly nightmarish in detail and intensity. it starts out beautifully but really breaks down in the middle of "The Individual", and no one should be required to sit through all 17 minutes of "Cop Shoot Cop ...". somehow the whole thing manages to be great and kind of not great at the same time.
