Welcome to SAD GIRL HOUR feat. Cat Power!


Cat Power is a great artist to unwind to, the instrumentals are stripped back and her voice has a therapeutic nature to it that adds to the charm. But what makes her great to me is despite the surface seeming calm and grounded, there are layers upon layers of dark imagery within her music that allows the listener to sink into pretty deeply. And this is probably her best work to date, with her most eclectic sounds and ideas on any of her albums.

After two listens all I have to say is thank you Dave Gahan for introducing me to a fucking amazing artist. Wasn't sure what I was getting into but this is it dawg. I really fucking loved the lofi and slowcore aspect of this album. The minimalist production is reminiscent of the kind of sound I love from some of my favorite indie folk artists like Elliott Smith and her ultra-close and personal vocal stylings give this album a chilling feel like none other.
