Considering that Help! functions as the Beatles' fifth album and as the soundtrack to their second film -- while filming, they continued to release non-LP singles on a regular basis -- it's not entirely surprising that it still has some of the weariness of Beatles for Sale.
The group’s second movie, Help!, wasn’t nearly as good as A Hard Day’s Night, but its 1965 soundtrack is equally great.
Help! was a big step forward, exploring doubt, loneliness, alienation, adult sexual longing, acoustic guitars, electric piano, bongos, castanets, and the finest George songs known to man.
The common view is that the Beatles’ truly classic output starts with Rubber Soul, but there is an argument to be made for Help! actually being the band’s first great album.
The Help! soundtrack album is as haphazard as Beatles For Sale, but it lacks that record's glowering intensity; it's a great but confusing record.
Help! may not be their greatest album, but it contains some of their greatest early songs.
YESTERDAY OR TOMORROW?
The most iconic song on "Help!" is undoubtedly "Yesterday", which has also appeared on other Beatles releases, but appears on this album for the first time.
As we transition from the old year to the new, this wonderful song becomes even more powerful.
Past experiences are like doors that each of us gives in to the temptation to continually reopen.
But returning to those doors means remaining prisoners.
The mind returns to the same episodes, to ... read more

A mythical and uncluttered sleeve, showing the 4 boys calling for help in semaphore. Or Ringo Starr who stumbles upon a cursed ring belonging to a crazy sect that seeks to sacrifice him, leading to a crazy and wacky chase around the world. But who came up with a scenario as twisted as it is funny? You have to see the movie to believe it, this is no joke, but please, don't sacrifice good old Ringo! In July/August 1965, the Beatles perform for the ... read more
Last time I checked, I’m pretty sure “HELP” wasn’t spelt -/\- \|/ L |\
Um what, a good early Beatles album? Well that’s a little harsh, as I actually do enjoy ‘A Hard Day’s Night’. But it is nice that we’re past the mediocrity, until of course we reach the shit show that is ‘Yellow Submarine’. Okay I feel like I’ve started this review a little negative. The fifth release from the quartet, which came along with another ... read more
a very mehhh Beetles album, even though the title track, "Help!" is staying in rotation. Yesterday is also an honorable mention. This album isn't bad by any means, just not their best work.
What I’d consider to be the last Beatles album before they started experimenting, of course that lead to much better music. This album has a spot in my heart as one of their best earlier works.
