The Kick is a celebration of what we lost and desired to return, with clear choices being made in its production and soundscape to resonate with that. It achieved exactly what it set out to do and did it well, but is it ground-breaking? I suppose that’s the fine line you tread when you’re making pure pop music.
Mature and focused, The Kick is a welcome return from Allen, a refreshing and ebullient collection that balances emotional introspection with pure physical joy.
Foxes’ return comes with a purpose: ‘The Kick’ doesn’t try to run or distract from feelings of loss and loneliness, instead it faces them head-on while celebrating the joy of being with others through it all.

I mean it’s fine. Foxes is clearly talented and has a decent ear for pop. It’s a fun time, I certainly wouldn’t mind hearing this.
It is NOT this decade’s “E•MO•TION” though. Show some respect to the classics.
A flawless project from the beggining to the end, while it marks Foxes journey to love and healing, it still make us dance through it all. This album may be the “Emotion” of the decade, for sure, reminding not the sound but especially the independence of the songs and growth of the artist.
Essentials: All.
Way too dated, the writing is weak a lot of the melodies are too samey for me. I feel like these songs are filler it seems like Foxes stretches out the choruses so much there's nothing much being said within the song. It also lacks individuality within the songs, there were rare moments the album stuck in my head but 80% of this is super forgettable and I probably won't even remember listening to this after a couple of hours.
I never thought Foxes could make such beautiful pop music. The whole album feels like a dance in the air.
