i am mad. i am mad i have never heard of this album until yesterday, i am mad this is not as praised as any other folk album in that era and i am mad i could never experience it for the first time again. god HOW is this album so forward thinking? how is this still so fresh sounding nearly 6 decades after its release and how is this not in everyone top 5 folk albums??? this album is absolutely going into my top 30 albums of all time, phenomenal.




Fav tracks: God Is Alive Magiv Is Afoot, Mary, Better To Find Out For Yourself, The Vampire, The Dream Tree, Suffer The Little Children, The Angel, Guess Who I Saw In Paris


The electronic elements of this album are fascinating. The first song, 'God Is Alive Magic Is Afoot' starts with this robotic echo and then swells into this politically charged folk ballad. The album blends burgeoning electronic production with challenging folk songs. The aggressive religious allusions throughout the album are equally interesting; Buff doesn't flinch in her depiction of Christianity as an all-consuming force.
