Spill Magazine

As good as her last few albums have been, here she has outdone herself. In looking within and expressing her pain, she has made Ocean To Ocean engaging, beautiful, and moving.

Albumism

The inspired songs that Amos has blessed us with across Ocean to Ocean offer convincing testament to the powerful, healing role that music plays in helping us navigate and persevere through the adversities of the day.

Ocean To Ocean is a moving, poignant and inspiring document of a journey most of us have had to take over the past 18 months.

80
PopMatters

Tori Amos’ Ocean to Ocean is a cohesive collection of songs that expertly articulates and finds meaning in the deepest recesses of despair.

80
AllMusic

Ocean to Ocean is a late-era standout for Amos, who reaches through the dark cloud of collective grief to be that supportive presence for listeners, healing with familiar touches and a timely message.

80
The Line of Best Fit

Ocean to Ocean ends up being Amos’s best album in recent memory for the way it manages to combine the strengths of her early music while incorporating newfound restraint and perspective.

80
Mojo

The focused, meaner-free Ocean To Ocean is big on uplift, balm and musical adventure.

80
The Arts Desk

At first, Ocean to Ocean feels a bit samey, textures and tempos much of a muchness. Then the musical subtleties and nuances begin to permeate your consciousness, like a burst of flavour at a wine-tasting.

80
The Irish Times

Riding the grunge wave, her gothic music explores themes of religion, identity and sexual assault and she revisits these themes on Ocean to Ocean.

60
Slant Magazine

With Ocean to Ocean, it seems as if Tori Amos has all but given up on pushing the limits of her instrument.

60
The Sydney Morning Herald

This is a glimmering, lush affair, rewarding repeated listening with multi-textured layers in the lyrics and instrumentation.

Ah, how delightful to get an album like this from an artist like Amos! 'Ocean to Ocean' is her best since 2000.

So for now this is where Toris discography ends, and this is actually a very strong showing!

Ocean To Ocean may disappoint some listeners cause its definitely more slower paced than her signature albums but if you give this album a lot of patience, its some of Toris strongest work in general.

I hope Ocean To Ocean is the beginning of a series of good releases from Tori that can actually hold a candle to Scarlets Walk and her 90s output.
