Going into listening to Observatory, a new album from Aeon Station, I was only somewhat familiar with the drama revolving this album even existing. It turns out that after internal conflicts were getting in the way of The Wrens progressing as a band which caused Kevin Whelan to venture out somewhat as a solo act, while still having the rest of the guys supporting him (besides Charles Bissell). This will probably be the closest we get to that next Wrens album. If you are looking for some 90/00's indie rock sounds, this should work for you.


Never really got into the Wrens so I’m certainly not the target market here. Either way, aside from a slight uplift in the last few tracks I’m finding this pretty dull and pedestrian. ‘Better Love’s’ heartland rock leanings provide an enjoyable high point in an otherwise unremarkable offering of indie sameness. Most of this just veers too far into dad rock territory for my tastes. Harsh but it is what it is.
