With Trust Fund Babies, both artists can address the naysayers while having fun and focusing on the music. It's this visceral sense of relief and the quality of the bangers they cooked up that make this farfetched team-up much more than a throwaway mixtape.
Short and casual, the ten-track mixtape Trust Fund Babies brings together rap legend Lil Wayne with younger rap star Rich the Kid for a series of spirited if low-stakes collaborations.
The duo’s collaborative mixtape isn’t a complete disaster, and it’s nice to hear Lil Wayne rap adequately again.
Trust Fund Babies doesn’t succeed much at all, but it does create anticipation for Wayne’s next solo work and further shows that even in his late 30s, Wayne can still rap circles around Great Value rappers.
Feelin' Like Tunechi & Trust Fund actually gave me hope for this projects but the rest were about as expected. I've liked one or 2 Rich the Kid albums and one or two Wayne albums but neither are artists I like very much honestly. Definitely a project that had the potential to be MUCH worse than it ended up. Not bad.
Rich The Mid. Idk why this has a higher score than Funeral, but seriously why did Wayne partner with someone falling off this bad. Even a geared up 21' Wayne with his crazy feature run couldn't carry this album with Rich The Kid and some bland beats being dead weight pretty much. I was maybe surprised by 1 or 2 songs for not being horrible, but most other things I couldn't see myself returning to.
personally think this is really overhated they have rly great chemistry the mixing and lyrics are just somewhat lacking!! really not as bad as everyone says it is tho fr
