So...I need a few more listens before I settle on a final rating, but a 90% is extremely valid for a low score I'd give this. By far this is the most dynamic work from Converge I've heard and it shows a clear band evolution.

Converge mix their older style of metalcore with gothic metal, doom metal, and sludge metal through this massive collaboration with Chelsea Wolfe, Ben Chisholm, and Stephen Brodsky. It's balanced extremely well with its many ideas, especially because there's a lot of ... read more

Bit too screamy In parts for my taste and much preferred the female vocal who disappeared in the middle of the LP.

Musically, I quite liked it, almost cinematic in some parts, but overall it's a no from me.

Essential track - Failure Forever

The collab we never knew we needed. Converge and Chelsea Wolfe bring forth some hauntingly gorgeous metal tracks that implement doom, gothic and sludge all throughout the project. It's a lot to take in on first listen, so expect my rating to change over time on this one.

FAVORITE TRACKS: Crimson Stone, Daimon, Coil, Viscera of Men, Lord of Liars, Flower Moon, Scorpion's Sting, Tongues Playing Dead
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Failure Forever

A very promising collaborative effort from Converge & Chelsea Wolfe, but a lackluster effort at that. After the first two amazing tracks on 'Bloodmoon: I' the album suffers in quality with tracks that aren't particular interesting or memorable, it's not bad at all in fact most of the tracks are at the very least decent, but the gap in quality from the best tracks was very noticeable and the sheer predictability of the project brought it down for me. It's a decent, accessible fusion of ... read more

Welcome to the continuation of me trying to get into Metal! In this episode I return listening to Converge as I feel like it's a safe bet considering how great Jane Doe was. These are my thoughts on the album, what I liked, disliked and hope to see more of in detail.

On this collaboration album it starts off really song as I believe the first 3 tracks are the strongest tracks in the album. The slow, meticulative rise and growth of sound for Blood Moon is magnificent and is such a perfect ... read more

Bloodmoon: I, as the name suggests, it's the first installment from a series of releases of the original Converge lineup with the addition of Chelsea Wolfe, Ben Chisholm, and Stephen Brodsky as additional members, where the band reaches familiar territories sound-wise while incorporating new influences onto the mix. The sound presented on this project could be compared to previous tracks such as Thousands of Miles Between Us, Eve, Precipice, or even Phoenix in Flight, but the inclusion of ... read more

On a stage in the Dutch town of Tilburg in 2016, the sea-sick harmonics of ‘Wretched World’ rang out over the heads of assembled festival-goers. Originally off the 2009 Converge album, Axe to Fall, and featuring members of Genghis Tron, the song was now being performed under the Roadburn festival-exclusive banner of ‘Blood Moon:’ a collaborative supergroup featuring all four members of Converge, Stephen Brodsky of (amongst countless others) Cave-In, Mutoid Man, and Old ... read more

I get why some people may be disappointed in the direction Converge went with this release; it's atmospheric and melodic, basically the opposite of the work that attracted their fanbase.
Me? I think this is not only an excellent change of pace, but one of their best albums period.

Converge and Chelsea Wolfe are quite an impressive combo. I would have never expected these two artists to mesh so well together. Bloodmoon: I is a nice rock/metal album that shouldn't go past you this year if you're a fan of the genre.

While not exactly the best metal album of the year, I do think there's a lot of value to extract from this album. First of all, most of these songs are pretty good. Some are better than others for sure, but I think the general aesthetic Chelsea's vocals ... read more

This is the album that fans of the more operatic side of Converge have been waiting to hear. There’s a staggering amount of talent on this record and everyone gets their time to shine, packing its hour-long runtime with a lot of substance and not much self-indulgence.

There has been no competition in my heart for Converge as modern metalcore's greatest band, with Jane Doe being the genre's unsurpassable masterpiece post-2000. And they've been a force to be reckoned with ever since, refusing to release anything even remotely subpar between the fearsome woman and The Dusk in Us.

Onto Bloodmoon: I, a wholly unique project with goth's modern queen, Chelsea Wolfe, and Cave In's Stephen Brodsky. The goth/folk aesthetics are used heavily, unlike any Converge ... read more

I had no clue this was dropping, so when I saw this come out last Friday, my excitement levels were immeasurable. I cannot BELIEVE this collaboration! And what's that coy little "1" doing there? Are you saying there's gonna be MORE!? I had to listen to this a couple times just to soak it all in. I know I was gonna let my excitement get the better of me, because this gothy doomy stuff is basically tailor made for my personal enjoyment. There's no way I could possibly have been fair ... read more

Nice!

As a Chelsea Wolfe fan hearing her behind some gothic metal tracks again after “Hiss Spun” is refreshing and I feel like this is the best effort from Converge since “Jane Doe”. An interesting collaboration that I can see myself returning to a lot.

Las partes de Converge son brutales y las partes de Chelsea son etéreas, es un sueño que a su misma vez es una pesadilla pero que volverías a visitar para poder comprenderla mejor.
