This album is perfection I think. This was an inspiration for a lot of experimental work by future rock groups. It's true psychedelic music topped only maybe by some Beatles releases. Honestly, some friends I have wanna get stoned to shitty rap that "I don't understand the true meaning of" like XXXTentacion, but why get high to that mindless garbage instead of to true musical goodness like this.

I find it funny how this album completely blew me away the first time I listened to it. I spent days on it, in complete awe of how beautiful this piece of work was.
Today, after some years without listening to it I gave it a try. The enchantment was simply gone for some reason. I couldn't even finish it, to be honest. I just found it totally unappealing and boring and gave up halfway. No wonder this is considered one of the most friendly prog rock albums ever.
I still listen tirelessly to other ... read more

I find myself nearly falling asleep to the random assortment of noises throughout this album which are somehow classified as music. What's in between is actually pretty good. I spent a long time trying to figure out what the fuss is about and I never found it.

Okay yes TECHNICALLY this album is pretty great. The individual songs are very well put together and I can see how it would be revolutionary. But together? I don't know, I've never really finished this album in one go. Why? Well, I hate to say this, but it's a bit boring. When I sit down to properly listen to this I always feel tired during Money for whatever reason and can never make it past Us and Them. Maybe one day it'll click with me and I'll be able to finish it in one sitting.

An album that completely snowballed in popularity, like Nirvana's Nevermind or Radiohead's OK Computer

Absolutely overrated. Enjoying dark side of the moon sober is difficult, and the slow tones of David Gilmour are absolutely un-astonishing. This album is borderline boring, anyone saying it's the greatest of all time need to learn how to make an original opinion.

would have it higher but the laughs creep me out

Although TDSOTM can be solid and gorgeous at times, it’s far from my favorite Pink Floyd album. I don’t know guys, this is the greatest album of all time? I except this to me to bring me into an all new dimension or whatever. I heard so many better Prog albums, heck even better Pink Floyd albums. So yeah, this album is kinda overrated. ( Also, I totally didn’t rip-off KIDWITHGUNs review)

This album is phenomenal. It manages to say a lot while still keeping everything about it beautiful. I don't have many words to say about the overall production (not because I'm blown away or anything, but because I'm an illiterate idiot) but the instrumentals are some of the best rock I've heard.

The songwriting is simplistic, but it's still pretty, I guess. Not much to read into, mostly everything said can be understood from a first read, but it still compliments the albums theme ... read more

Tremendously overrated. Might not even be a top 5 Pink album.

As much as this record is influential of all time, I highly think its one of the most over-rated records of all time. The progressive rock sound at times feel lukewarm at best.

The Pink Floy's most iconic album it's a undeniable timeless classic even not being the perfect one. But what make this album special and relevant is the singular trip and experience of carrying own atmospehre making the listenser submerse each track played. A album with need to be felt.

Every time I hear the Great Gig in the Sky I can’t help but shiver and feel so weird and fuzzy. I don’t visit this album often, but when I do, it feels so renewing.

(+)
-transitions
-a majority of the songs are (except On the Run and Any Color You Like) fantastic
-the concept
-The Great Gig in the Sky

-interludes are boring
-replayability value isn’t that high as much anymore for me

Solid

And as gorgeous as Dark Side may be, I was expecting something that would truly blow me away, thrust me into a different dimension, or a reason for me to call it "The greatest of all time".

Best: On The Run, Brain Damage, Eclipse

Weakest: Us and Them

One of the most overrated albums of all time. That being said, you can't deny the ground that it broke at the time, and the influence it had on music as a whole. That is an incredible and rare feat.

I was introduced to this album at a fairly young age and was blown away. I always heard it was a great album to smoke weed with but never considering trying it.

The other day I got high and listened to this album, and I got all the way to "time" and was like: wow this really sucks. True story.

If you haven’t listened to this record, it is about time you give it a shot. It is one of the most recognizable and genre-defining albums ever made and for good reason. Pink Floyd lays it all out on the table here and although they don’t always hit their mark, most of it sounds enchanting and beautiful.

Well-produced, sonically exceptional and cohesive, this albums is an instant classic and, although I find it kinda overrated cause there was better prog rock back then, you can't deny how rich this sounds.

Also, us and them is a 10/10
