CRITIC REVIEWS

90
Gigwise

Listening to it has all of the pleasure of a solitary cigarette smoked after a filling meal, with none of the repercussions. It is pure joy.

90
RIOT

The band’s unique mix of Turkish Psych, retro-futurism and Pet Sounds style guitars, Let The Festivities Begin is a riot from start to finish.

Northern Transmissions
Quite simply Los Bitchos sum up ‘Let The Festivities Begin!‘ perfectly “it’s about being together and having a really good time.” We’ll raise a garishly coloured cocktail to that!
80
Uncut

Los Bitchos approach these genres with affection and enthusiasm, creating delirious exotica and dubbed-out skanks that are irresistible and soon, you suspect, unavoidable.

80
Mojo

With zingy production from Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos, Let The Festivities Begin! is, indeed, a proper fire-starter.

80
The Skinny

Every second of Let the Festivities Begin!, the debut album from instrumental quartet Los Bitchos, is unconventional, rule-breaking, and mind-bending.

80
Dork

Matching boozy, bloated funk and psychedelia with wild, racing rhythms, ‘Let The Festivities Begin’ positions itself as something irresistible, becoming a presence all of its own.

80
DIY

The band have gloriously captured on record the irresistible vibrancy of their gigs.

70
PopMatters

The album pulses with a global vibe that never settles on just one style at a time.

70
Under The Radar

It feels very intercontinental post-mod and present, and universal. From the funky ’60s flavor of “Las Panteras” to the quasi-prog rock of closer “Lindsey Goes to Mykonos” the whole shebang is very well-rendered and highly entertaining.

60
Loud and Quiet

A vibrant, joyful and sometimes camp explosion of colourful sound, which like its title, is a call to let it all go and enjoy the party.

60
AllMusic

They take a playful, feel-good approach to their creations, which consistently feature circular, danceable grooves.

60
Record Collector

International fusion four-piece bringing the party.

59
Pitchfork
Produced by Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos, the multi-national group fuses Argentine cumbia, Peruvian chicha, and Turkish psych into a giddy sound that leans unabashedly retro.
50
God Is in the TV
If you want to get a flavour of what they’re about then give ‘FFS’ or ‘Tripping At A Party’ a whirl – though in all honesty you could choose any song.

I truly enjoyed every song on this album and I don't really think it has any skips. Songs are full of life and really fun to listen to. That being said, I think the lack of vocals does take away from this album, and the addition of them really could have made it all the more better. But overall a really good debut project and I'm super excited to hear future work
