This is great house record! This whole project is very atmospheric with sounds constantly building off one another. I found the first half to be quite a bit stronger than the second half. I thought the production had much more energy and the vocal performances were excellent, whereas some of the tracks in the second half felt a little bit dry. However, there are still gems to be found in the back half including Counterpart and Day by Day, which was accompanied by Kadjha Bonet's beautiful vocal ... read more

Man's never misses. Flawless energetic chill ass collection of songs and sounds.
Why I can't be as cool as Bonobo?
I just feel I'm not even cool enough for this.

Best place to listen to this: anywhere, anytime.

Bonobo's best album since 2010's 'Black Sands'. Excellent vocal samples and hypnotically repetitive beats that know when to evolve to avoid getting stale. I love how 'Shadows' and 'Tides' build around the incredible voices of Jordan Rakei and Jamila Woods respectively. From Miguel Atwood-Ferguson's gorgeous strings on 'Polyghost' to Joji's surprise appearance on 'From You', the features are consistently great. No doubt this will go down as one of 2022's best electronic albums.

Although I have a great deal of respect for Bonobo's legendary discography especially with iconic albums like "Dial "M" for Monkey" and "The North Border", his latest effort is his most lackadaisacal and lacks the forward-thinking spirit that I've come to expect from Simon Green.

Brighton producer, Simon Green A.K.A Bonobo has gained a cult following over the years of releasing music in the electronic scene. Justifiably so as Green is a key artist responsible for ... read more

It aint anything out of the ordinary but it's a nice house album that I can just turn on in the background to vibe to. a pretty great release to start 2022

Once again, Bonobo delivers a solid downtempo album with well-constructed orchestrations while still leaving a lot of suspended yet-beautiful spaces to the great guests invited for this album.

I love the fast but chill energy of this LP, this is the kind of music that's played in restaurants but also in the nightclubs. The percussive drums sound amazing especially on "Shadows" and "Rosewood", then on "Otomo" they feel more aggressive. The aesthetic is carried throughout the whole album but I do think that some of the melodies and sounds just got very stale and reminiscent by the end. Also, I think a lot of these songs are just lacking in something. It ... read more

'Fragments' is a very cool and chilled out collection of downtempo tracks that is pleasing to listen to. The production is really solid throughout the album, with the mixing of the songs being really well-crafted, though the beats aren't anything innovative. With a mixture of purely instrumental and vocal tracks, this album has plenty for those who are into downtempo and future garage music. One complaint I do have though is the sequencing of the tracks, I feel like that the vocal tracks are ... read more

Personally, I love chill music as it's the music I most often listen to so I thought this was going to be up my valley. Although there is some songs I enjoyed, this project was okay overall. Bonobo seems like a good artist as he does know how to construct great beats and I can see him being an amazing producer to some melodic singers, though by himself it's really hard to focus on this album.

Lots of the songs are perfectly arranged like Polyghost and Tides, then there are bland songs like ... read more

I forgot this music was playing (in a good way), yet it does not have any highlight for me.

I can't think of many places where I haven't listened to Bonobo in the past 12 years...Black Sands on repeat during chill workouts at the climbing gym, The North Borders on meandering acid trips, Migration humming out the window of a car or a dimly lit bedroom. I've danced as wildly to Bambro Koyo Ganda around a campfire as I've cried to Break Apart. I've heard Bonobo at parties, in coffee shops, at the mall. His music even graces the corners of every chill Spotify playlist. It's helped me ... read more

I remember when I first listened to 2009's "The North Borders". Put it on my old iPod to play in on my way to my old school. And I was thrilled with every movement of the songs. I remember vividly even the neighbourhood I was when it played "Jets" and I was like "man, it'd be so cool if the song went THAT way" and then in the next step IT DID and then I was like "OH NO HE DIDN'T ?!?!?!?!?", and then he went BEYOND and I started to laugh in the bus... that ... read more

Some songs are really good, like Rosewood or From You with Joji, but it's not enough because the album is less successful than Migration.

There's more medium stuff here like Age of Phase, which shows that Bonobos happen amateur stuff.

Eyes? Closed. Head? Bobbing. Mind? Elsewhere.

I love this particular flavor of atmospheric electronic music. Simon's really taken his downtempo roots in stride, adding a fresh touch-up to his style. It may be of no more importance than being played in the background while you do something else. But that "something else" will be drastically enhanced, no doubt. This is a very thoughtfully arranged album.
