Bonobo's latest, may just be his best since "Dial M For Monkey".  While far from the classy blend of Trip Hop, Jazz and more, this latest from Bonobo goes surprisingly hard.  The grooves are tight, the production is crisp, and there is so much more progression then I'm used to hearing on a modern day Bonobo project.  On top of that, this time around the vocal guests seem to be working WITH Bonobo rather then against him.  It's not reinventing the wheel, but it's ... read more

'Fragments' is a very cool and chilled out collection of downtempo tracks that is pleasing to listen to. The production is really solid throughout the album, with the mixing of the songs being really well-crafted, though the beats aren't anything innovative. With a mixture of purely instrumental and vocal tracks, this album has plenty for those who are into downtempo and future garage music. One complaint I do have though is the sequencing of the tracks, I feel like that the vocal tracks are ... read more

Good overall, but there are some really generic tunes here, mainly in the towards the end.

Nice variety album. I judge my electronics by the human warmth, and there was plenty of that here. I enjoyed some gorgeous richness in the first half more than the 2nd. However, Age Of Phase and Counterpoint Dance will be on my exercising playlist. Otomo was special with its choral voices. Closer and Elysium left me a bit meh. Overall and comfortable, accessible electronic album thats unlikely to cause much offence. At times safe vanilla is perfectly fine.

It aint anything out of the ordinary but it's a nice house album that I can just turn on in the background to vibe to. a pretty great release to start 2022

Otomo is insane

Some good tracks (Otomo and From you). For the most part it’s pretty mid. Could see it as chill/vibey background music but, it doesn’t hold my attention by itself.

first time listening to this artist and most likely won’t be my last. I love the variety of sounds and beats on each track which truly bring out the grooviness of the album. That being said, some of the more “atmospherical” sounds seem to just be a copy and paste from every other chill/house album ever created. Yet needless to say, this is an awesome album.

Personally, I love chill music as it's the music I most often listen to so I thought this was going to be up my valley. Although there is some songs I enjoyed, this project was okay overall. Bonobo seems like a good artist as he does know how to construct great beats and I can see him being an amazing producer to some melodic singers, though by himself it's really hard to focus on this album.

Lots of the songs are perfectly arranged like Polyghost and Tides, then there are bland songs like ... read more

man i really cannot wait for chill to stop being a lazy buzzword for bad. about to fly a plane into the new world trade center because pitchfork won't stop slagging off great electronic music just by saying "well it's not particularly fashionable, is it?" as if they won't be writing another "ten albums we wish we could change our minds on" piece in 2 years time

Some songs are really good, like Rosewood or From You with Joji, but it's not enough because the album is less successful than Migration.

There's more medium stuff here like Age of Phase, which shows that Bonobos happen amateur stuff.

Blazes like a little simmering campfire, unloading vast patterns of rhythm and color. While I’d also love more emotion to thoroughly introduce itself, much care is taken in the vivid world it all shows here. There’s lots of chillness that just isn’t as interesting. This album feels sequenced more often than melodic and pretty. Sometimes it can’t help but feel entranced, others I feel like I’m simply staring at something far away, too distant to be recognized as ... read more

Some tracks shine, others lost me. A friend considered this a great soundtrack for travelling.

This is an album that you listen to while not listening to it.

Smooth and chill; front half was more refreshing than the later

I love the fast but chill energy of this LP, this is the kind of music that's played in restaurants but also in the nightclubs. The percussive drums sound amazing especially on "Shadows" and "Rosewood", then on "Otomo" they feel more aggressive. The aesthetic is carried throughout the whole album but I do think that some of the melodies and sounds just got very stale and reminiscent by the end. Also, I think a lot of these songs are just lacking in something. It ... read more

Didn't do anything for me. Too cleanly produced, lacking in bite or punch.

Bonobo does a great job at delivering good quality electronic music in all of his albums, I just wish he delivered something more.

I appreciate how every album of his proceeds in a more and more modern direction while still holding the 'Bonobo' style. He does a good job at that. However, I have noticed that he has still remained in a very safe place where he does not reach to better things, ambitious concepts, or creative experimentation. So many of these songs could have done more, but end up ... read more

Honestly this album in its own way is kinda flawless to me. The it’s such a well put together record, produced so well and full of details and gripping noises and each vocalist that Bonobo brings on fits so well.

As an introduction to Bonobo this was great for me, However… I can’t see myself returning to this album all to much, I don’t really ever return to many instrumental albums (mainly because they just never stick with me, nothing on this project is bad at all), ... read more
