I will peg Isaac Wood even if it's the last thing I do

I felt that Black Country, New Road’s debut didn’t see the band exploiting their full potential; sometimes holding back when they could go even grander.

If this single represents what their sophomore album is shaping up to sound like, this could be BCNR at their most musically daring yet, and closest to tapping into their full potential.

This is exactly what I wanted. I felt like FTFT was quite great but it often stayed in its own sound that I wasn’t as big on as others, harming its replay value for me as time goes on. But this new single SCHLAPS and is quite different from their other stuff. Good shit.

Waking up to this is the best thing I could ask for

This song isn’t my favorite bcnr song ever, but it’s very very good, and it shows that they are going with a different sort of sound. It makes me extremely excited to see what’s coming

More theatrical than usual, but a total banger nonetheless and successfully progresses past their debut albums sound

When I heard a few months ago that BCNR's new album would be in a much more conventional and poppy direction, I was a bit skeptical and nervous that they might suffer from a sophomore slump, but this single left me feeling a lot more optimistic, and I'm looking forward to their new album.

holy shit they're back

This is an extremely enjoyable track, BCNR throws away their experimental rock base for something a lot more theatrical. It's extremely fun, has a lot of cool ideas and is quite catchy. However part of me feels empty after this track, I really do like it but it isn't impressing me in the same way that their debut did. It was so memorable, quotable and instantaneous. I don't really get that with this. It's a very enjoyable track but not about it really sticks out of the ... read more

It's their eccentricity that will establish them as one of the most promising newborn bands, those who will reform music of the future, and 𝘊𝘩𝘒𝘰𝘴 𝘚𝘱𝘒𝘀𝘦 π˜”π˜’π˜³π˜ͺ𝘯𝘦 is another proof of that. They pour their potential onto this song, experimenting a new direction they're treading on. Billie Eilish style, they're running away, leaving everything behind. I'm coming home, they said. But are they really coming home? The story awaits to be unfold on ... read more

I think this is great so don’t kill me when I say…

I unironically think this almost sounds like something Wilbur Soot would make PLEASE DON’T KILL ME IT’S JUST AN OPINION

Ehm.

Yeah this is fantastic. Compositonally this is probably the most varied song they’ve made so far, and considering the song is able to go through this many changes in three and a half minutes is seriously impressive and shows the band is improving even more in songwriting. There’s ... read more
