Competently produced, but hopelessly dated. Still a much more listenable and less of a clueless release than nearly all of the band’s output since Holland (1973), most of these 12 tracks are somewhat pleasant bland soft rock, but have 0 replay value and are really forgettable with the exception of the excellent “Getcha Back”, which is the best song they made after “Love You”. The first album The Beach Boys released after the death of founding member Dennis Wilson leaves me thinking one thing - "They really should have quit when their founding member died."

Without Dennis, the group sounds lifeless. They sound like they're only doing this so that they can continue making money. They just replaced one of their most important members with a drum machine and continued their journey into the embarrassing synth pop group that they became in the '80s and '90s. ... read more
