Allegaeon returns with there first album of the 2020's, DAMNUM, a more melodic side of their technical death metal sound with a strong emphasis on progressive metal, with complex riffs and technical drumming all coming together for a manic listen filled with aggression and passion and although on the technical side this album is great it doesn't necessary equate to a memorable album, it has it's moments of just embracing and striding within its chaos but i find it often gets lost it in and by ... read more

February 2022 Reviews:

This had a rocky start, but got quite like BP era Opeth at a steady pace and by the end, I enjoyed it. This could go up over time, but I enjoyed the project overall.

So on the second listen of this album, I still think it's a masterpiece. It's a surreal listening experience. Riley's vocal ability is shown to the fullest extent. Maybe his cleans aren't great, but they're at least decent. But his growls are possibly the ... read more

I love a lot of things about this album, for example, the complex riffs, the tight drumming, the epic clean vocals, and the haunting growls.

Unfortunately this record originally came out the same day as one of my top 5 AOTY and got lost in the shuffle. I am glad I chose to come back to it and rerate it before the year-end. I thoroughly enjoyed this record. The only thing is that it did feel a little long so it lost a little on Cohesion and Composition, but otherwise a solid record. I plan on coming back to this again.

First time I've listened to an Allegation album before and I'm impressed.

Very technically proficient. Great riffs. Nice use of acoustic guitar. This drummer rips! I like the mix of brutal death and clean vocals throughout. The melodies mix well with the heaviness. At times, they remind me of early Opeth at times which is always a good thing.

One of the more talented bands in metal. The guitar work is something special and the new drummer adds an element to their music to really help change up the songs.
