☆☆☆½ ~ An inspiringly remarkable album. I feel intensely engaged with this consistent and deeply satisfying music in a wholly compelling unique way.

Enhanced by Julia Kent’s deep and devastating cello-playing, Asperities is an entrancing work of modern classical art. This album’s moodiness is never to its detriment, as it sounds completely devoid of any hope or light, almost like a soundtrack to a movie scene where the heroes have just been killed, and there’s no hope of a future left in sight. It’s a depressing atmosphere, but a wonderous one all the same.
