Balens Cho sports a more optimistic tone compared to Pray for Haiti’s thick grit and grime, but the rhymes never lose potency.
I actually prefer this one over Pray For Haiti. I love it sonically, it’s so smooth and groovy with its jazzy production. The length of the album is also one of its biggest strengths. Abbreviated and off-kilter and a bit oddball and jazzy and hazy and weirdly mixed and Haitian and fly as all hell and all the other reasons why we love Mach-Hommy. Labou is an excellent warm-up, Separation Of The Sheep And The Goats is a well-crafted clutter of sound, Lajan Sal is the jolliest I've ever heard Mach and it pairs well with the absolutely somber, melancholy Wooden Nickels.
