kiCK iiiii remains the most enigmatic part, the least accessible, the most repulsive.
Of all ‘Kick’s instalments, this one is the most meandering, focused on conjuring up an atmosphere, and living within it.
kiCK iiiii sees voids and doesn’t rush to fill them, perfectly content with absence – almost as much as KicK iii sounds averse to it.
kiCK iiiii is her most celestial, yet unadorned, collection of songs yet.
The KICK anthology is an intergalactic escapade with occasionally violent pit-stops, and iiiii signifies our landing on a planet where peace is possible.
kiCK iiiii cleverly uses space, silence and patience to recontextualise our categorisation of her art once more.
iiii and iiiii are largely beat-free with the tragic, majestic beauty of a cracking glacier. But come back in a few decades when I’ve finally taken it all in.
kiCK iiiii ... sees Arca at her most subtle and understated.
Hey AOTY, I'm very happy to present you today my overall review on Arca that I wrote for Spectrum Culture! (The rating applies to all new KIcks for the moment, according to the different ratio of my rating of AOTY) Here is the link: ... read more

Great closer! This one is also quite ambient, but even though it’s very minimalistic, “kiCK iiiii” does more to help each piece feel like it’s progressing over its runtime than its predecessor, and everything here is stunningly beautiful. Arca took on an ambitious task by making five albums worth of material that explored the various aspects of her sound, in a very short time no less, and I say it came together very well and ended on a high note.
I've been really bad this week but Arca's music has come to save me.
Overall:
kick iii (94) > kick i (90) > kick iiiii (90) > kick ii (88) > kick iiii (73).

the album cover feels nothing like the music itself, yet it makes sense as an ending for such a roaring series. quiet and collected, it comes to a peaceful conclusion that speaks in bells and eloquent synths. 'ether' has to be one of my fav arca tracks.
kiCK iiiii confused me for a while. It’s definitely the most intimate thing Arca has put out since self titled. It all feels very sentimental in a way. Even the productionally simple ones are quite enjoyable if you’re patient and focused enough on the art. Did Sanctuary reference Mutant? Músculos is one of my all time favorites. The album ends off in a lighter note from the transition to La Infinita to Fireprayer. Yeah… it was just really quite enjoyable and I would ... read more
