While it is only three songs long, the EP is dynamic, sharp and hints at the potential of what’s to come for Whack.

Rap? is a succinct distillation of Tierra Whack’s hypercompetitive spirit, enriched by some smart, introspective gems.

The Philadelphia rapper’s new EP may be more straightforward than usual, but even at her most conventional, Whack is at least attempting to keep you off-balance.

She’s definitely a formidable artist and has resounding musicality, as shown in the last two songs, but there’s also a slightly throwaway quality on display here, as if she’s keeping us tied over for the next release.

I’m the world’s biggest Tierra Whack stan, but while I do like this, I’m just a little disappointed.

Tierra Whack has been the one artist whose career I have been most excited for over the last few years. She just has so much talent and personality, and her music is just so creative and unique. There's no way Tierra Whack made us wait 3 fucking years for 8 minutes of generic bullshit. She created a beautiful minimalist world on her debut just to do nothing with it? Fuck outta here, this is so lazy, disappointed is an understatement.

starting off this peculiar album rollout, this short set of tracks is, on the most part, lazy. every hook is underdeveloped and expected to be upheld by delivery, where tierra also slips up. the lyricism is still great, but it’s a bit disappointing to see that be the focus when the instrumentals are so bare-bones.

It's alright, I guess. It has some weird production and delivery, but I think it works. I thought Stand Up was mid, but Meagan Good and Millions are pretty decent tracks.

After making such a big impression on me with her excellent 2018 album Whack World (only 15 minutes long and best experienced by watching the music videos that come along with it), Philly rapper Tierra Whack has slowly returned with a bunch of one-off singles, but this newest slew of EP’s are finally showing signs that something bigger might be on the way. The first EP up is Rap?, which plays things much more straight forward and really doesn’t connect with me that much. Throughout ... read more
