The album is refreshingly personal — deeper and denser than any of the band’s previous releases — and a musical consolidation as well.
This one didn't hit me as hard as Joshua Tree but is still a very good album overall. Their transition into the 90s marks a noticeable tone difference compared to Joshua Tree and while I like the sound and production on that album more, I can't deny that U2 definitely still was at the cutting edge in terms of production with Brian Eno. This album has some serious highlights on it but also has a few filler moments throughout. Overall, the end product is quite nice.
The second U2 album I had to bump up to a qualifying rating score recently, I think I had this pegged as a guilty pleasure with a few worthy songs when really it's a decent album that ok, needed a little trim.

Unpopular opinion: this album is incredibly boring and underwhelming just like the band itself.
The best album of U2's career for sure, their highest point in creativity and songwriting, a very beautiful monument of the 90s times. It's amazing how the band was able to rebuild themselves and produce such masterful and new work. A Masterpiece of the 90's, no one can't resist it. Dark deep and bittersweet with a Touch of Sarcasm and some dadaistic Lyrics. Bono's Vocals catches perfect the Mood of this Time and the Music of his Bandmates are unique, widescreen and very very strong. A must have Album for everyone who loves Music.
