Fans jumping on the MGMT bandwagon following ‘Oracular Spectacular’ are sure to be impressed, while this would actually be the best starting point for listeners wanting to check out what all the fuss is about.

Time to Pretend is probably the point where MGMT grew into the sound that we all know them for today (or at least the sound of their big hits). It was their last release before being picked up by Columbia Records. As the name suggests, this is the first known version of the duo's smash high Time to Pretend.

This version of Kids hits different.
The rough mix and instrumental choices contribute more of a childlike charm that the suits the track more.
If the version of Kids on Oracular Spectacular already fills you with nostalgia, this earlier version will hit you with a double dose of it.

The other tracks are cool too I guess.

I am so excited to finally finish MGMT's discography, they have easily been one of if not my favorite electronic group for a good bit and it truly is a shame I didn't do this sooner. Time to Pretend and Kids are lighter versions of the tracks they would turn into on MGMT's next project, so I am really interested in the rest of the stuff here.
