An antidote to the mundane, ‘Tell Me That It’s Over’ is an album you’ll never want to end.
‘Tell Me That It’s Over’ is a superlative ode to vulnerability, permitting these indie wallflowers to flourish in technicolour.
An album that's trying to move forward and ultimately relieved things are ending, Tell Me That It's Over may not find Wallows any luckier at love, but they're a little older, a little wiser, just as catchy, and more sonically adventurous.
Any question of boredom is wiped from the slate. Tell Me That It’s Over is non-stop, undiluted fun.
Indie poppers Wallows stake out a new middle ground between alternative and pop and prepare for the streaming era on Tell Me That It’s Over.
I MISS YOU AHHHH: The album
Wallows is a group I knew literally one song from prior to this album. That song was These Days, and I think it’s a really catchy nice little song. So here I just was expecting some decent indie pop rock and… yeah that’s kind of all this is. I mean it’s not bad. I don’t dislike it. I just think it’s a bit one dimensional. Everything is pretty formulaic and somewhat forgettable. I think the production sounds nice, and the ... read more
NEW WALLOWS AND IT'S A BANGER
Right off the bat: Tell Me That It's Over is the best Wallows project. Never have they sounded so rich, full, and versatile.
Every song here shows the band taking huge leaps in quality on most aspects, and tracks like "At the End of the Day" and "Guitar Romantic Search Adventure" are only proof of that.
Singles "I Don't Want To Talk", "Especially You" and "At the End of the Day" sound very good on the album. I ... read more
NO NUANCE REVIEW
Wallows didn’t really impress me with their first album and their 2018 EP, but this record has a lot of sunny and colorful textures and interesting musical ideas. They still have some ways to go, but I think they’ve proved they aren’t just another dime a dozen indie rock band and they have potential to make something really cool. Congrats Wallows, you’re not my 13th reason!
Wallows is an indie-pop band that has had a very solid fanbase during 5 years, their second release is a mixed bag, a pretty generic one yet a pretty creative at the same time. The album opens with a pretty boring track called "Hard To Believe", no offense to any wallows fans. I Don't Want To Talk is a pretty ok song, and the most popular song from here. Especially You is a great track that has an incredible mix in the drums, and the whole vibe of the song is great. At The End Of Day ... read more
Re-review #4 I think
Very safe music that has some experimental and interesting bits but mostly passable. I really want to like Wallows but they just infuriate me with their lost potential with these pop esc songs that pretend to be Indie Rock. Especially You and Missing Out are annoying and god awful songs that hurt to listen to sometimes. I'm sorry Wallows, I still love you, but I prefer Nothing Happens.
A great indie rock album and Wallow's best work to date. They continue to somehow evolve and develop their sound into new directions while remaining true to their roots.
