In short, 18 Months neatly packs Calvin’s hits from the last year and a half into a solid playlist.

By going big, he ends up sounding anonymous, his distinct sense of playfulness relegated to only bits and flashes

Radio stations loved this album.

Throwback to when radio stations played tracks 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 13 continuously on loop. Because of this, I was already tired of half of the songs before even listening to this album once through. Some songs (Feel So Close and Sweet Nothing) are too nostalgic to hate through. I don't know how Calvin Harris got away with using the same song structure on nearly every song.

I’m disappointed. Not for the reasons you’d think by looking at a review of this album, but I am.

The album knows how to be catchy occasionally with masterpieces like "Need Your Love" and "We Found Love", and even can be experimental like on "Mansion" and "School", but still has so much filler and fluff that drags it down a whole lot more than necessary.

This album marked Calvin Harris' switch from the quirky synthpop of his 2000s work to a more mainstream EDM style (with some hints of electro). Before 2011, Calvin had been no stranger to electronic music. His first two albums have a lot of electronic elements in them (particularly Ready For The Weekend), and he tested the ‘letting other artists provide vocals’ thing in 2008 when he produced “In My Arms” for Kylie Minogue (one of my fave songs by the Australian popstar). ... read more
