The ambition of Digital Roses is also its downfall, leaving K.R.I.T. with pieces of a good album but not coming close to completing the puzzle.
Lacking the depth of his more memorable efforts, Digital Roses Don't Die sounds more like an album Big K.R.I.T. made for himself rather than something he expected his fans to collectively laud.
Digital Roses Don't Die is a surprisingly vague love story.
Digital Roses Don’t Die may not be a super memorable listen, but it is still really enjoyable and has some great production.
I have heard good things about BIG K.R.I.T, but up until recently I had never listened to his music. But recently I did hear a few songs off of 4eva Is a Mighty Long Time, and I found them to be really enjoyable. I am excited to listen to that album at some point, but I was also excited to check this out. And even though people didn’t love the single ... read more
More melodical and not as 'dirty souf' focused as K.R.I.T.'s other projects, but there's a couple instances of a very groovy and laid back K.R.I.T. which is nice. Every song transitions pretty nicely, but it quickly moves from track to track with all but 1 song being longer than 3 minutes; It's one nice bite of a smooth track and then you're onto the next one and you've pretty much already forgot about the previous track. Definitely not gonna be as memorable as some of his mixtapes and better ... read more
The 10th track pretty much summarises how 'Digital Roses Don't Die' is to me. The artistic change up is certainly respectable from Big K.R.I.T. but it doesn't make for an engaging or interesting album, the sound is definitely fine production-wise but in turn we're left with some so many forgettable songs, derivative ideas and trite, half-baked hooks. I'm not even kidding with the latter some of the hooks on here are genuinely so awkward that they're horrific. Creatively I just don't think it's ... read more
STRONG 6.
The ideas are stronger than the execution of said ideas. Although there are a few stand outs, this is an otherwise boring and uneventful project.
FAVS: Just 4 You, Would It Matter
LEAST FAV: Boring
Generally I'm a defender of Big K.R.I.T. but this isn't very good. I appreciate him trying to focus on this side of his sound because a lot of my favorite songs on 4Eva is a Mighty Long Time (an all time favorite album of mine) lean toward this side as well. Unfortunately the songs simply aren't too good. So Cool and Just 4 You are probably the best on here.
