It's Joni for beginners, and the years and remakes haven't lessened the power of her originals one peasant-skirted iota.

The Mitchell Hits portrays isn't a one-trick Joni. There's the folky Joni, the poppy Joni, the jazzy Joni. Hits gives mere samplings of each one, and at times they make little sense together.

Hits does a decent job of compiling Mitchell's jukebox nuggets on one 61-minute disc.
Nothing not to like here, it flows beautifully and is poignant without being tedious and repetitive.

What a great introduction to an exceptional artist to which I will definiively return from time to time, when I need a waem shelter.
