What a super chill LP. This is perfect for pottering and chilling out of a morning, or slowly unwinding in a hazy dream at the end of a night. No idea how it would go with lunch, probably very smoothly indeed.
Essential Track - August Twelve
The Universe Smiles Upon You is a chill Thai funk album. I like DJ's cool drums but I wish Laura's bass was louder. I got obsessed with Khruangbin in March 2020 and I don't know why I stalled over a year to listen to one of their albums. It's the perfect album to bike along the lake to in mid-Autumn.
Some really chill psychedelic music. The type of music you listen to at 2 in the morning and enjoying a good high.

The album starts with Mr. White, an obvious reference to Breaking Bad, so this album is a perfect 10/10. Moving on...
But for real, this is a relaxing album that can get a little old towards the end, but mostly does a fine job overall. For a debut, I really must admit that I like the way this album came out to be - so confident and assertive about the abilities Khruangbin as a band had overall. REVIEW #19: The Universe Smiles Upon You by Khruangbin
A really solid album to chill with. Each track just flows nicely off one another and, altogether, offers a very nice and relaxing experience. Some of the songs may sound similar at times in their acoustics, especially in the beginning, but that's not a super serious issue if you just want to zone out to this record.
