Onyx

I thought people were joking about how boring this project was. But they were so right.

I went into "Onyx" with cautious optimism. Excision is one of the biggest names in dubstep, and while his music has always been more about brute force than intricate sound design, there was a time when his drops felt fresh, heavy, and genuinely fun. This album is poor. I cannot thing of any other projects that could fully exemplify a fall from grace much more than this LP. Track after track after track of the same thing, so incredibly tiring to get through. The majority of this project has two moods, headbanger quarter-note briddim or wishy-washy meldub.
The opener is - at best - ok, with the first drop being somewhat reminiscent of Throwin' Elbows w/ Space Laces, but the double-drop loses this enjoyability. The proceeding collaboration ... read more

Sorry, Excision.

Picked out of my dubstep to listen to list by my friend marco, I decided to listen to Excision's fifth and, as of now, final studio album, Onyx, and it really sucks that I liked this less than I did with Virus.
