Led Zeppelin III is considered to be the weakest in the original Led Zeppelin quadrilogy. It's definitely less fun and catchy as their previous two. However, it's still a great album and a good addition to their catalog. The album goes more for a hard blues sound rather than a hard rock sound, which is probably why everyone considers it the weakest. In 1969 Led Zeppelin saw things in big way. They released two albums: one at the beginning of the year and one at the end of the year. So, of course, the band will not stop there. But those who will wait for a new opus of the Zep for early 1970 will be disappointed: the third album, if expected, will be released on October 5, almost a year after the second. This album is super underrated. IV is still peak Led Zeppelin, but 3 is still undeniably one of their best. Every track is completely unique and experiments with so many new, up and coming sounds, genres and techniques at the time (orchestral rock, reverb, reverse effect, ambiance, vocal effects, etc). Each member is some of their top form (especially for Robert Plant’s songwriting, holy shit) and perfectly able to combine their experimentation with fan service.
