Something interesting I noticed is that Steven Wilson actually released this as a "mini album" rather than an EP. This does make sense to me, because since it is 37 minutes long, which is close in length, or even sometimes longer, than a lot of bands' full length studio albums. Being released only a year after Hand. Cannot. Erase., I think that 4 1/2, is mostly just after thoughts for that album, or other tracks which were recorded at the same time as that album. Lord of a progressive rock. 10 points plus for Porcupine trees cover "Dont hate me"
The progressive rock prince returns a year after the release of his fourth solo career album with a straight follow up EP. The intent behind this release is, obviously, comercial, as clarified from the material presented. The tracks on this work sound like little more than studio leftovers from Hand.Cannot.Erase., though, and there is little to dive into here other than some rehashes of sonic ideas he has displayed many times before, on Porcupine Tree or even on his solo efforts. En este album claramente hay dos grandes polos uno lleno de canciones con muy buenos ritmos y solos y el otro con caciones terriblemente lentas y aburridas hasta cierto punto, pienso que esto es lo que hace que el album se pierda muy facilmente.
