I understand the direction that they are going. Those drums sounded amazing, I just couldn't really get over the vocals and the eagerness to incorporate so many of the post-hardcore tropes within the songs. Nostalgic, but I only see myself coming back to this album a few times.

Reminds me of: Dead Poetic, Underoath, with an added layer of shoegaze.

To those who know me, it should be no surprise that I loved this album, this late 2000's to early 2010's emo sound. While it's not really like the most unique or defining album in the genre, I am glad to see one of my favorite musical styles still being made in 2022. The overall low-fidelity sound can be a hinderence especially with how cleaned up the production is guitars end up sounding muffled and vocals sound distant on some tracks making it difficult to immerse yourself into the music. ... read more

Marisol is literally already one of the best ballads of all time and this album only came out 4 months ago

The music is good. The thing I do not understand about all this revival thing is in which way is their music different from what we heard in 2000s? Worth giving a nostalgic listen, but imo this type of metalcore/post-hardcore has worn itself out.

Ayyy, we got some local boys on the list alongside Yard Act! I fully expected "Attempt 8" to hit SUPER hard out of nowhere considering how much power the first two tracks gave but was instead greeted with a mellow interlu- HOLY F*CK COURTNEY, YOU NEED TO RELAX. I came into this album with a Metalcore expectation but after only 4 songs everything switches up with an incredible intensity. It's a bit too heavy for me to come back to over and over again, but I can't deny that this album ... read more

There was a time I was a huge fan of the metalcore sound. As time has passed I've grown to enjoy it less because of the lack of innovation in this genre. This album however presents a soundscape that feels fresh while maintaining all the tropes of classic metalcore. Just the right amount of edginess and theatrics to pull off a decent album.

Personally, Static Dress' second LP "Rogue Carpet Disaster" feels like a revival of emo that we have been missing since the times of old My Chemical Romance. Its production and lyricism is better than its competition by a much farther margin I could imagine despite it not being perfect. To be fair, there aren't many horribly ground-breaking things on the album. It just feels refreshing from the shitty emo released by people like MGK this year. Also, my favourite moment of the album ... read more

Can see why ppl are digging but it’s a little too polished for my liking. They’re essentially a slightly louder TBS.

An Album of Time
This record is like a coming-together of the scene. The influences are running rampant and the bloodline is more than evident. This band is the metaphorical end of the road that was paved by Hum, Hopesfall, Deftones, My Chemical Romance, and Chiodos. Proving to be more than a nostalgia-piece, Static Dress updates these familiar sounds with a healthy tribute to the industrial soundscapes of Jon Lathemor and Florian Kleiber of Gunts fame. These influences come together to create ... read more

I don't really have much to say, this is just pretty damn good. There's definitely a few missteps, but I think the pros definitely outweigh the cons. It has a great mix of punk influence, metalcore, and even post hardcore. And can we talk about that breakdown at the end of Lye solution? God damn, that was good. Good album

Favorites: Courtney, just relax, Lye solution, Marisol

Is it taking a lot of influence from Deftones? Definitely. Luckily I’m just ignorant enough about their discography that it doesn’t bother me, and I can definitely, in good conscious, completely ignore that. Deftonescore goes brrrrrrr

But really, this is a vicious blend of 90s metal and modern metalcore in the best possible way. It’s heavy and aggressive, just the right amount of melodic and melodramatic, and the quiet points are few and far enough between that they’re ... read more
