RIOT

The new record from New Zealand group Yumi Zouma is a whirlwind of emotions from start to finish.

The Line of Best Fit

Present Tense stands as another stage in Yumi Zouma’s development in this sense, lapsing at times into dream-wrapped comfort zone while throwing enough curveballs to differentiate from preceding outings.

Paste

Yumi Zouma play with a wider musical palette on these songs, which reach beyond the synth-pop sensibility that often characterized their earlier work. These songs are lusher, but in a low-key way.

Under the Radar

Present Tense is a shimmering collection of songs that lead you through an immersive musical maze via a wide range of emotions, and is certainly an album to lose yourself in.

Present Tense is a comfort album on the pleasant side of catchy; it’s the perfect collection of songs to augment your mood when the weather climbs to twenty-something centigrade.

Beats Per Minute

Present Tense has a little something for everyone and is a perfect launching pad for the next one. The talent is so there, don’t be afraid.

Edit: Gonna bump this up a lil as Haunt grew on me once I noticed the sound effects in the back and the last song only gets better with each listen. Low 70

only gets better with every listen, the vocalist is incredible and the vibes are really strong, best songs on the track are of me and you, give it hell, and where the light used to lay
