When you already got Amenra and Cult Of Luna, does post metal can still be refreshing and innovative ? For years, I just said "no" to this question and I just couldn't be impressed or excited by newcomers in the genre. But, by using soft Deftones vibes, easy listening post metal and some huge basslines on great tracks like Shape or Moment, SOM created an audio space with this album that made me think that, maybe, I was, somehow, wrong about my judgement on this genre. This feels very fresh for a shoegaze/post-metal combo album. It doesn't hit the incredible strides that Blanket did on their 2021 album, but it sounds very unique on its own and is produced very well. This may go up with time.
