While paling in the shadow of its predecessor, the record is nevertheless a defiant call to arms against mainstream musical values.
With Goo, they've squarely hit the mark. Rock & roll, or what's left of it, may never be the same.
Goo sounds comparatively musclebound. Sonic Youth hasn’t yet found a way to let the power of its music come fully alive within the limited boundaries of simple, short pop songs.

This is actually my introduction to the legendary band Sonic Youth, Why did I pick this album over Daydream Nation? Well, Because the artwork is kooler (hahahahah). Goo is an album I knew I’d enjoy to some degree. I had heard a ton of songs from the album randomly and now that I’ve listened to the whole thing, I can say that I really enjoy it. I honestly think it’s a tad better than Daydream Nation, but that’s just me. Even though on DN there are some better songs, this album is just more consistent overall to me.
