With Goo, they've squarely hit the mark. Rock & roll, or what's left of it, may never be the same.
Goo sounds comparatively musclebound. Sonic Youth hasn’t yet found a way to let the power of its music come fully alive within the limited boundaries of simple, short pop songs.

Goo is an album I knew I’d enjoy to some degree. I had heard a ton of songs from the album randomly and now that I’ve listened to the whole thing, I can say that I really enjoy it. I honestly think it’s a tad better than Daydream Nation, but that’s just me. Even though on DN there are some better songs, this album is just more consistent overall to me. An enerving classic is the words I use to define 'Goo' by Sonic Youth. Around an atmosphere of pure punk irony and reflection the band awakens some genre trends that would later in the decade define many bands and many songs. Their noise rock signature is as cleaver as their lyrics, and... WOW, talking about the lyrics I was impressed by the insight they have on writing, and the historical and poetic references are stunning.
