Man Plays the Horn is a unique record of astounding richness that resonates both as the pinnacle of Cities Aviv, but also as an adventure that continues to be talked about in the future.

"UP FROM THE HORN SAW THE SPIRIT TAKE AN EXIT...CLOSE YOU CONNECT WITH - IT'S A CONNECTION"

Man Plays the Horn is first and foremost an experience of connection, a tribute to roots, to the love of community, to culture. It is no coincidence that the Jazz and Experimental rapper Cities Aviv draws a ... read more

This is some of the most creative hip-hop I've ever heard; it sort of sounds like a more abrasively experimental sLUms project. There's so much going on and so many ideas explored without sacrificing cohesion. The off-beat rapping perfectly complements even the most unorthodox beats here. The first ten-track run is almost flawless. While the following 12-minute instrumental centrepiece is itself impressive, it squanders the album's momentum going into the less consistent second half.

i don't even know what to say, shit is just ridiculous! As with most Cities Aviv's releases, you will either love it or find this boring n repetitive..

Man, this one’s overrated
There are some great tracks scattered across, and while I’d still say it’s a good record….
It has no right being this damn long
It DRAGSSSSS so hard it’s insane
It feels like there’s a loose concept here, but there’s no real development of said concept
It’s just a comp of a bunch of different Cities songs, some hit, some are kinda boring

MAN PLAYS THE HORN has some great ideas and soundscapes that can really immerse you; in particular the song MACEMAN ,which I find to be a personal favourite, makes me feel like I am trapped in a small cabin in a storm listening to the radio. Although I do enjoy lots of the ideas shown here, sometimes I'm left wanting more from certain songs. However, for me the biggest drawback of the album is it's length, and with a shorter runtime the album could be a lot stronger.

Love the length, love the clutterness and adore the unfinished soundscapes.
