A claustrophobic sequel to Thief.
It sounds as you would expect: a desolate dreamscape punctuated by nervous drum machines. In other words, it's a bit Kid A.
So this is what Radiohead's Kid A should've sounded like.
The Eraser is less crabbed, cryptic or violently bitter than Hail To The Thief ... and is often more satisfying for that.
What makes The Eraser great is Yorke's singing.
Slight, but carrying a fair amount of weight, The Eraser isn’t a masterpiece, but it’s much more than solo-project divergence.
Nigel's production and arrangements leave very little room for the songs to breathe ... However, the emphasis on Thom's lyrics illuminates The Eraser's strongest asset: its content.
While The Eraser might not be a genre-busting classic like Kid A or OK Computer it's a good, solid record nonetheless.
The Eraser is not Radiohead good.
On a smaller scale, the problems afflicting these tracks afflict the album as a whole; even allowing for the better-crafted songs, there's little-to-no dynamic range on The Eraser.
Somewhat mirthless and at times downright android-sexy, The Eraser is what many Radiohead fans have come to expect from Yorke in recent years.
The Eraser is no more experimental than the average Radiohead album. In fact, it sounds exactly like you would expect a Thom Yorke solo album to sound.
The album The Eraser is, quite simply, Thom Yorke clearing his throat.
One of the most underappreciated records of the decade, which is strange considering that it's coming from one of the most celebrated figures in music history. Several fine examples of Thom's mastery of songcraft with strong lyrics and infectious melodies. These rise far above being Radiohead B-sides.

I don’t know why it took me this long to get around to doing Thom’s solo stuff, but I’m here now so that’s what counts. Now, I love this album. Yeah a lot of this still feels like the more electronic side of Radiohead, but come on is that a bad thing? I especially think this is better than TKOL as well. I mean everything that I would want from Thom is pretty much here. Catchy melodies, crushing lyrics, outstanding progressions as well as production, and that ... read more
So I don't have anything lined up for this...but it's the 3 year anniversary of my account, & instead of actually writing a review for this album I listened to 2 months ago & forgot to rate, Imma just say a simple thanks. I'm over 200 followers which is cool, & through this website I've completely molded a new taste in music for myself, especially in the past year, where I've been listening to a whole lot of stoner rock which has basically been the main style of music I'm really in ... read more
Could just be me, but this stacks up to any Radiohead project. Like maybe not like “Ok Computer” but still this could stand very strongly in their discography.
