I’m a little ambivalent towards this one. I feel like this is a record that would be up my alley, and there’s a lot of good things about it, especially the writing. But I don’t know, I’m just struggling to connect with it and I’m not quite sure why. Maybe it’s just something I need to be in the right headspace for. “Married in Mount Airy” is a sparse, ghastly and very well balanced album where the slow dark acoustics and the high, soft innocent vocals of Nicole Dollanganger make for a dreamy escapist folk that tends to carry your mind away.
i respect the vision and the choices but i repeatedly had to restart the album bc i was tuning it out. sounds like if grimes took helium and decided to make the longest 40min album ever
