Despite the lazy title and artwork, 'The Boy Is Mine' is packed with 5 iconic hits and 8 more tracks that capture the magic of the late 90s R&B with a strong bite. More subtle than her debut, it actually gives space for Monica's prowess to push through even stronger.

this album is pretty consistent overall, you can tell the growth in Monica’s vocal delivery and lyrical content. However, my biggest issue with the record is that, the album deep cuts aren’t nearly as memorable as the very well picked singles (Street Symphony, The Boy Is Mine, Angel Of Mine, Inside). That’s the reason why I don’t find myself going back to this a whole lot.

Monica creates a sophomore album that showcases degrees of maturity she had yet to explore in her first album. In my opinion, this is Monica's best album to date, albeit her debut had more classic hits, this album showcases more cohesion between the tracks. Personal favourite track: Angel of Mine.
