Truant / Rough Sleeper is yet another confirmation of Bevan’s status as one of the most–if not the most–forward-thinking producers working.

Truant/Rough Sleeper doesn't have the intensity of last year's Kindred EP, and it leans closer to the classic Burial sound, but its subtlety is its own reward.

Like Untrue, it can slip by without you noticing it, but pay attention and the detail is magnificent, with panned tricks and translucent samples that can knock you for six.

On this new pair of tracks, dubstep innovator Burial uses gaps and silence to progress his ever-growing interest in longer song lengths and ambient atmospheres.

While "Truant" isn't his most memorable track, it still has the atmosphere to boot. "Rough Sleeper", his longest song ever put to record, is an absolute triumph, however

There are certain artists in music who brim with character. Their music leans more towards personality than technicality, and it's usually by these standards in which the artist goes down in history for. Lots of unnecessary gaps in Truant, which could've just made multiple tracks. Luckily Truant is varied with its different parts, some could've used more volume but overall it was good. Rough Sleeper has a few less gaps, but the overall quality of the parts is less than that of Truant, featuring very little memorable parts. It's worth a listen for Burial fans wanting more of his music.
