Of course the ties to the movie reflect in this song feeling very simplistic at its core, but that doesn't change how boring and immature it comes across to me. There's just not much of an exciting progression or a captivating performance from Abel on here, and I don't get much out of listening to him trying to seduce a woman in the same ways he's been doing for many songs at this point. I absolutely loved the instrumental and the slow strong tempo of the song.
At first it can sound bland, but it's become better each listening.
I love the atmosphere on this piece. The almost-entirely chamber orchestral instrumental is really cool and brings a theme of "classiness" that I just love on this. It really just feels like a three-piece suit at a fancy dinner. Abel's singing on here is also spectacular, with great runs and intense main vocals that pull this entire piece together. Might not seem like I have a lot to say about this one, but... 100.
Guilty pleasure alert...I remember this being my first exposure to The Weeknd (besides "Love Me Harder") back in early 2015, and I fell in love with it pretty quickly. I obviously never saw the movie, and the video scarred me a bit...but the song is an undeniable jam.
