Bakar’s new album, Nobody’s Home, is his best work to date; mature in its lyricism, yet still fun in its musicality.
Like his previous work, Bakar’s gift for surprising listeners by adding unique flare to his music is heard throughout.
An impressive and accomplished debut, well worth the wait.
The singer-songwriter’s eloquent if uneven debut album is stamped with the sounds of north London – Winehouse, Blur – where he grew up.
Nobody’s Home struggles to grasp the organic feel of Badkid throughout its run time, but tracks like “Youthenasia”, “Riot”, and “Alone Again” make whatever heights are out there for him an eventuality.
I’m so confused can someone explain why this has so many 0/100 ratings?
EDIT: sorted it out.
There's an elegiac beauty to what Bakar does on this album but i feel like his music is in the chrysalis rather than butterfly stage.
Bakar has been of the UK's most promising newer artists and a couples have showed strength in a variety of genres. However, "Nobody's Home" is a bit of a disappointment. Ultimately, it is a safe and bland experience that doesn't take nearly enough risks. This album comes with its fair share of electronic passages, but the production there is lacking all the same, sounding flat, empty and uneventful. Bakar's decent lyrical ability and calming voice end up saving the overall experience. ... read more
One of the best of 2022 because I don't have to dissect the lyrics to figure out what he's singing about.
Bakar's second album Nobody's Home feels a little bit more stagnant than his debut Badkid, but makes up for it with some tracks that explode with energy and great vocals. It starts a bit slow, but picks up at times with heavy songs like Ginger Pubes, Reclaim, Free, and more.
There are plenty of lyrics about wanting to be freed from the shackles of love and heartbreak, but Bakar doesn't sound terribly distraught throughout here as it may appear.

My biggest problem with this record is that Bakar doesn't have the confidence to make a topical track about his mental health without making it really obvious that it's a song about his mental health and kind of resisting putting any effort into crafting a song around it. He seemingly doesn't want to make a tune that might take away from the lyrics at all instead of creating a melancholic track that surrounds it. Cause he can create a good sad banger when he tries like the track Hell and Back ... read more
