The vocal melodies exuded on the album are irresistible. Paired with lush instrumentation, Sink Into Me is in a word, gorgeous, and the perfect soundtrack for a meander in the sunshine or a mellow morning in bed.
Babeheaven middle that imprecise Venn diagram where R&B cuddles with trip hop, flirts with pop, burlesques with lounging psych.
Sink Into Me offers a richer delve into Babeheaven’s sound, pulling out and playing with eclectic influences to offer an album full of smooth and atmospheric musings on loss, loneliness, and connection.
We often lock our thoughts in a familiar place in order to stop ourselves falling face-first into a tricky situation. Sink Into Me plays like the sonic embodiment of this act; you could say that Babeheaven are playing it safe and, as a result, falling flat.
[68.90] Dreamy near hypnagogic at times indie-pop that, for the most part, goes past a definition of the generic indie-pop scene in 2022. I think it is quite good and refreshing, that Navy Blue feature is pretty cool, but only because of "Sink Into Me"s length would I recommend the project to anyone interested in lower energy indie-pop.
(Literally has nothing to do about my thoughts on the project but dang, "Me" is in 4 different titles, just realized.)
