this album is a collection of the most inoffensive summertime songs imaginable. sounds like pool party background music

While “Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2” isn’t bad and has some solid aspects, its overall just really inoffensive and safe, and as a result it ends up being pretty underwhelming and disappointing.

Coming into this album, I was actually pretty intrigued. I thought Vol. 1 from 2017 had some really great highlights, and I was hoping that this would as well. However, I really wasn’t into the singles for this album outside of “New To You”, which was completely carried by ... read more

Calvin Harris spices up his Funk Volume series by matching up artists with others that seem like they wouldn’t be seen in a 1000 mile radius of each other. The result of this is mixed. I overall enjoyed seeing how the artists would interact in these tracks together more than I would if it was just predictable pairings. I appreciate the strong vibe this album has as well, going for a chill background vibe with a massive guest list. Not as memorable as Vol 1, but a valiant effort

Not the worst but this a big step down from the last volume. It isn't even like the beats are bad, but the features are just, why? They don't make sense in this kind of genre and when they perform, it sounds so off and doesn't even match the beat, big ones are 21 Savage, Snoop Dogg, and Busta Rhymes.

None of these features match anything and it just makes this an unpleasing ride, I will say that it does balance with some good features and very good beats which is why I give this a high 5/10.

I can say that I at least mildly enjoyed the beats on this album, a lot of them have strong finishes, but the features range from very good to downright awful. Unlike Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, this is a mixed bag, but the standout moments made it worth the ride.

Favourite:
Worst: New Money

1. Intro - [Not Included]

2. New Money - 4
[The production just completely overpowers 21 Savage on this. He has basically no energy on this as well, I guess as it went on the better it got but this still wasn't great.]

3. Potion - 8
[This is a banger this one. Can't go too far wrong with a Thugger and Dua feature. Just a really catchy and fun song]

4. Woman Of The Year - 8
[Decent track this. Nice production an fantastic vocal performances by all the ... read more

Calvin aims at a groovier sound for Funk Wav Bounces, Vol. 2. Although he doesn't dive into it as much as he could, this is a nice listen for summertime, with some charming guitar sections. Some features seem overpowered by either the production or other guests or both, but the enjoyment of it all remains. It's an album that starts quite underwhelming makes its way up until the end.

Surprisingly, over the past 5 years, there has been no musical growth or setback on this album.

Works as advertised.

Favorite tracks: New Money, Stay With Me

Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 plays it safe with pretty generic and similar sounding instrumentals with more than a dozen features to do their thing over them. It sounds okay, you wont find much that turns you away from it, but wont find anything that really blows you away.

I didn’t enjoy it as much as vol 1, but it’s an inoffensive album, has a few bangers, but overall it’s a solid listen

Track 1 was really bad so I was scared but I love the rest. Great summer album even tho summer is ALMOST OVER

This entire thing is a fever dream once you realize who the hell is on this. They really just needed Ed Sheeran and Lil Wayne on a track to seal the deal.

Not objectively awful sounding but nothing really seems inviting or fresh.

Calvin Harris returns with another album that mixes funk, neo disco music and dance pop, which is similar to what Beyoncé recently did, which also reminds me of last year's great album by Jessie Ware,''What's your pleasure''. Here the vibrations of the songs are very summery, they make you imagine an afternoon at the beach, besides being very funky, the bass lines seem very lively and groovy and the collaborations like in ''obsessed'', ''Stay with me ' ' and ''living my best life'' make ... read more

Good fucking lord, what the hell is this. This genuinely makes me depressed cuz I was bumping Vol 1 a lot during my middle school-high school years. All the excitement I had for this album completely vanished as soon as I heard 21 savage over a tropical ass type beat. Never picking this up again bruh
