CRITIC REVIEWS

Louder Than War

A chilling spooky end to an astonishing debut album that should rocket The Mysterines into the mainstream or I’ll eat my coat.

80
NME

On their electrifying debut album, the Scousers make good on their promise of becoming the UK’s next rock heroes.

80
The Line of Best Fit

The band demonstrate the excitement bubbling beneath the surface of the UK rock scene, ready to pierce through its thin veil at any moment – Reeling is that moment for The Mysterines, and it’s a debut you won’t forget in a hurry.

80
Mojo

A striking introduction to a band who take discomfort, tie it in a bow, then stamp on it with their boots.

80
Dork

The weather forecast for ‘Reeling’ is relentlessly stormy and wild: it feeds into that impulse to stomp and rage and become your most ferocious self. The Mysterines certainly have.

80
Upset
Sometimes raw, honest and vulnerable, but never far off smashing through whatever obstinacy flung into its path, ‘Reeling’ is every bit a new band meeting their potential, shrugging, and taking another gigantic jump beyond.
80
Gigwise

To have this level of balance, coherence and consistency on their debut album is an exciting sign for things to come.

80
Classic Rock
Hooks hook, riffs riff, senses smoulder, resistance is futile.

Reeling is undoubtedly a solid step on a road to a successful career, and one that will find this band honing in on both its desired path as well as strengths that will become clearer as time goes by.

70
DIY

Though not a flawless effort, musically speaking, this band’s baby teeth are not far off falling out.

60
Record Collector
Insistent choruses to spare, there’s little mystery to the formula but few new bands are doing it with such conviction.

The first two tracks are two of the best rock songs I've heard this year.

Loved the dark & dingy underground sweaty tunnel raw garage rock sound.

Vocal performance was a bit mixed for me, but otherwise a decently enjoyable release

This album just makes sense. All the songs follow the same raw garage vibe, no exceptions - and I truly love it the most when an album is monothematic like that, without any random changes in the mood.

fav songs:
🌻 under your skin
🌻 reeling
🌻 the confession song
