HipHopDX
The zombies of Flatbush stretch their voices to their limits of animation, excavate the zaniest sounds fit for a sci-fi acid trip and deliver constant, extensive lyrical displays not normally found on debut albums from commercially unproven artists.

Clash

If the marquee sounds of Kanye and Drake carry the clean, crisp breezy whiff of mainstream appeal, then ‘3001’ is very much the authentic grimy flipside, a heavy fug of thick weed smoke billowing down Tilden Ave.

XXL

3001: A Laced Odyssey is a perfect first step in a career that is still blooming.

Tiny Mix Tapes

FBZ have wisely taken a step back from their usual third eye pontificating without compromising their distinct drugged-out sense of soul-searching.

AllMusic

An excellent debut that flows perfectly and offers something new with every return.

Pitchfork

3001: A Laced Odyssey does an adequate job of reminding us all of Flatbush Zombies’ smart, sharp lyrics. What they lack in hit-single potential, they make up for in talent.

Consequence of Sound

While their high times absurdity was once their near-exclusive modus operandi, Flatbush Zombies are making strides in growing up … a little.

Pretty Much Amazing

While the LP litters its landscape with unoriginal, and sometimes embarrassing, ideas, the execution of these limitations boosts its successes to redeemable levels

60
The Needle Drop

Flatbush Zombies come through with their most lax, spacey project yet on their commercial debut, 3001: A Laced Odyssey.

I was only introduced to Flatbush Zombies within days of this project's release, and didn't have enough time to listen to any of their other music before coming across this. I only had "Palm Trees" for this to live up to, and it certainly did just that. As a newcomer, this album didn't feel strange, and the trio glides over these beats effortlessly. Again, I only had one song for this to live up to, so I assumed it was a stylistic decision to seemingly put three interlude ... read more

I have not been so hyped for a hip hop album since Kendrick's TPAB. Obviously FBZ sound and style is totally different than Kendrick's, but that's besides the point. The point is, i've been waiting a long time for this album to come out.

I'm a huge fan of their last two mixtapes; DRUGS and BetterOffDead. Going into this album I knew I was going to hear some crazy dope shit. Lyrics, flows, beats, even the dope album cover lol everything about this album i love. Meechy Darko is on some other ... read more

The spacey and exquisite production across this record is far more complex and well organized than many other modern hip-hop records today. The flow of the rhymes from all members associated also blend with the production well; the music by no means leaves the vocals in a position to fall flat. The radio-esque theme spliced into many of the tracks also make for something to help the album flow together well. I originally expected this album to deflate by the end, but it really consistently ... read more

I loved this album more than most people seemed to. Ascension is, as some might say, "a banger".
