โ€œFuck yโ€™all looking at?โ€ asks the intro. A superstar, is the answer.

AllMusic
His music has always been a little all over the place, and with the increasingly strong songwriting showcased here, it becomes clear that being all over the place is the entire point of Dawson's restless artistry.

Sputnikmusic
Despite sounding as though it could be too eclectic for its own good, Dawson seamlessly integrates all of these styles into something dynamic and insanely fun.

‘CHAOS NOW*’ is simply redefining what a ‘guitar album’ can be. Fuzzy riffs over trap-tinted beats, 80s chicken scratch guitar, blistering power-chord choruses, picked acoustic… it’s all here.

The Needle Drop
Jean Dawson embraces chaos on his anthemic new album.

The Line of Best Fit

The 'what if' factor looms large on CHAOS NOW*, but not to the detriment of enjoying the thrilling outsider pop music that Dawson provides both in his overarching messaging and unsteady sound.

Chaos on the ears.

Jean Dawson certainly has a presence on his tracks, no denying that. His blend of pop-punk and trap themes is done appropriately too, it’s certainly inviting an energetic crowd too. But it’s the volume of these songs that kill it for me.

THIS. ALBUM. IS. SO. FUCKING. LOUD!! I hate to be one of those “OooOoOhHhH buT ThE MiXX ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค“” guys but this album’s production is bad. The kicks are blaring loud, the distorted guitars are in your ... read more

EDIT (95 to 87): PIXEL BATH remains undefeated... this is still heat though.

Te quiero mucho, Jean Dawson

Ok, damn, that was heat. Honestly, I was already expecting to love this, so, this rating and review are very much biased, but my gawd man, what can I say? I love Jean's music, and, with this album, he proves he has the potential to become one of the most influential artists of the decade, and I mean, with how confident and amazing this sounds, everything Jean's missing is becoming ... read more

Jean Dawson tries some new things with this album, and in a way, most of them result in fireworks and show how much of a versatile artist he is, but by that same token, there are spots where it feels like he's trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and it barely comes together into a coherent or well-structured song
The production is decent, the riffs go hard, and for the most part the fusions of alternative rock and abstract hip hop work in his favor, although he can sound like a ... read more

I'll be honest, with how much of a scumbag Jean has been over the year since this album's release - popping off on Twitter claiming anyone who has an even remotely similar sound is biting his work, constantly beefing with his fans on Discord or IG when they call him out, still not sending out the Pixel Bath vinyls after THREE WHOLE YEARS, constantly announcing then cancelling tour dates etc. (the list goes on) I really wanted to come back to this album and just nit-pick everything I hated about ... read more
