Continuing on with the next album in the Alice in Chains discography is the band's 1995 self-titled album which was once again released under Columbia Records. The last project I reviewed from the band 'Jar of Flies' was easily my favourite project that I've covered in the bands discography thus far, it's the bands best exploration into the world of ... read more

Poor doggy :(

I do think this is a step down in quality in the AIC discography. The production is kinda weird, like bruh why are the drums so quiet? Also Layne's vocals on some tracks are a little weird too, and I'm not sure. Nonetheless, it is still a good album. The main songs that stick out are very good. Frogs is probably one of the best songs they have ever written. Over Now is a great closer, Heaven Beside You is a nice overall track, Again freakin slaps. A sleeper hit for me, this album is dejected as fuck. The songs are sludgier and more drawn out, the lyrics are hopeless and everything about this record feels like giving up. There's plenty of beautifully tragic moments on this LP, and the songwriting is fantastic. It's one that requires more patience than normal, but it's rewarding as Layne's swan song with AiC.

The best grunge record, period.
