FKA twigs begins her career with EP1, a much tamer collection of 4 tracks that kinda ease you into her sound by sprinkling elements of glitchy electronica here and there(namely Breathe) with other interesting things such as her pretty much whispering over the entirety of Weak Spot as well as the nice, simple tune of Hide that isn't all too wonky or freaky. [74.25] twigs' debut EP of airy whispers over synthesizer production develops electronic R&B very similar to what James Blake had been doing at the time just over a year prior, though substantially toned down. The art pop "Ache" seems to be the accessible track that for a first project is quite a good catchy "oh check out this song by this new artist" thing, however in my eyes doesn't seem to be anything more than that. Cool stuff, good first EP.
favs - Breathe and Hide
Kinda forgettable to be honest. A couple moments I enjoy, but as a whole Im not getting much out of it.
I listened to this one and EP 2 on vinyl for the first time and I thought "Wait, why it's so slow? And why does her voice is so low? Or is it a male feature?".
And on EP 2 it was the opposite, so it was a bit faster and high-pitched.
Then I noticed that the speed was wrong, so I've corrected it. I ended up listening to both EPs two times.
