Clash
‘Meet The Humans’ is not just his best solo release to date, but also arguably the finest album in which he has been involved full stop. Capable of moving and energising its audience in equal measure, Mason has refined his art to a remarkable extent.

The Skinny
Now in his early 40s, Mason sounds like an artist finally finding his creative stride.

The Guardian

Meet the Humans is overwhelmed by warmth, dispelling the myth that with tortured darkness comes great art.

80
Drowned in Sound

Meet the Humans is the most concise and immediate record Mason has released in over a decade.

AllMusic
Fans of any of Mason's earlier projects will find something to love on what is easily the gifted popsmith's best solo effort to date.

Mojo

On his third solo album, Steve Mason veers dangerously close to that overfarmed damaged-earnest-sensitive-bloke territory, but luckily he doesn’t seem capable of schmaltz or emotional cheap shots. And he’s a brilliant songwriter.

Uncut

There’s no shortage of melancholy here, but it’s of an understated and universal kind. Crucially, there’s none of the darkness that seeped through so much of Mason’s previous work.

49
Arbitrary, not entirely pleasant experimentation to cover up some average and under-written songs. Not much to recommend.

think the user scores are a better indication. Not a patch on Boys Outside.

It's weirdly pleasant, it's human and inhuman at the same time. The guitar make it seem very innocent and calm but the electronic approach takes it to an stratosphere level. Mason's voice is beautiful and adds enough quirkyness to the project, specially in the songs where he goes a little bit crazy, like in the closer track. I found it catchy but unsurprising at the same time, I mean, there's some gems here but in general there's nothing too special, it's a bit underwhelming.
